Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have made their first public appearance together since finalising their divorce last year, reuniting at the New York premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman.
A professional reunion on the red carpet
The former couple were photographed together on Monday evening as they arrived for the screening of the new musical drama, which Affleck helped produce through his company, Artist Equity. Despite their split in 2024, Lopez was full of praise for her ex-husband’s role in bringing the project to life.
“Thank you, Ben. This movie wouldn’t have been made without you and without Artist Equity,” Lopez told the audience before the screening.
The actress and singer stars in the film as Ingrid Luna, a character who exists within the vivid imagination of Luis Molina, a gay hairdresser imprisoned in Argentina. The story, based on Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel, follows two cellmates who form an intimate bond while escaping their grim reality through fantasy and storytelling.

A dream role for Lopez
Reflecting on the project, Lopez said she felt an immediate connection to the script. “I was in bed reading it, and I was floored. I thought, could this be happening right now? I get to sing, dance and act. I get to be an old-time Hollywood movie star,” she shared.
Lopez later described the film as both a career highlight and a source of comfort during a challenging personal chapter. “It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives. Doing this project was such a dream come true that it really helped me through a moment that was difficult in my personal life,” she said.

Moving forward with grace
Speaking to USA Today, Lopez acknowledged Affleck’s contribution to the production and her ongoing respect for him. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made, and I will always give him that credit,” she said.
Addressing their separation, she added, “Things happen, you have to keep going.”
While Lopez and Affleck’s marriage may have ended, their latest public appearance shows that mutual respect and collaboration can remain — even after love fades.
