Demi-Leigh Tebow, former Miss Universe and Miss South Africa, has officially embraced a new title: mother. She and her husband, retired NFL player Tim Tebow, recently announced the arrival of their baby girl and have now unveiled her name to the world.
The couple, who live in Florida, revealed the news on Instagram on Sunday, 7 July, accompanied by an intimate photo of Demi holding their newborn daughter in hospital. While fans had already celebrated the couple’s pregnancy journey over the past few months, the name reveal has added another deeply personal layer to the announcement.

A name steeped in heritage and meaning
Demi-Leigh introduced her daughter to the world as Daphne Reign Tebow, explaining the significance behind the name in an emotional post. For the Sedgefield-born beauty queen, the name Daphne has held meaning since childhood. It belonged to her late mother’s sister, a beloved maternal figure who, although not her grandmother by blood, filled that role with kindness and strength.
“She was the epitome of grit and grace,” wrote Demi, remembering the woman who always had shortbread in the kitchen and a song in her heart. It was a name she cherished growing up, and one she had always hoped to pass on to a daughter of her own. When she shared this with Tim early in their marriage, he embraced the idea wholeheartedly.
The name Reign, chosen as Daphne’s middle name, was inspired by a young girl the couple met through their charity work. Demi-Leigh explained that this little girl’s story helped shape their hearts and reminded them of a higher calling — a spiritual message of identity, love and purpose.

Celebrating her South African roots
Ahead of the birth, Demi-Leigh also shared glimpses of her daughter’s nursery, a space she designed with her African heritage in mind. The room, awash in pastel tones, features safari animals, plush toys and whimsical hot air balloon motifs. It’s a gentle nod to her roots, a theme she hopes to weave into her daughter’s life as she grows.
“I can’t wait to keep sharing my roots with our daughter,” she wrote. “It will be one of my greatest joys.”
With this new chapter just beginning, one thing is clear: Daphne has been born into a family where love, purpose and legacy are cherished above all else.
