The Pollards welcomed their second child, a baby girl, on Monday, 20 October. The new arrival was marked with a celebratory pink flag raised outside Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt in Bellville, a tradition the hospital uses to announce births. Marisse also posted a sweet video of their new daughter on Instagram, announcing the birth and her name, Isabella Tanya Pollard.

Ahead of the arrival, Marise shared a carousel of photographs from what she called their “last weekend as a family of three”, capturing time at home in Paarl, a countryside wander and a dinner with her husband. She has offered glimpses of her pregnancy throughout the year, including a farm-side baby shower held while Pollard was touring with the national team. “Wrapped in love, held in prayer, and surrounded by those who mean the most,” she wrote at the time.

Pollard returned to the Bulls earlier this year after his stint with Leicester Tigers, and made his way back into the Springbok set-up during the United Rugby Championship window in October. He has been granted paternity leave following his daughter’s birth.
The couple, who began dating about 12 years ago, married in 2017 in the Cape Winelands. Their growing family adds to what has become a busy baby season among the Springboks and their partners, with several rugby families expecting or recently welcoming new arrivals.
For the Pollards, the pink flag over Bellville told the story simply. Baby Bok number two has arrived, and team Pollard has a new supporter on the sidelines.
