The ton is abuzz once again – and rightly so. Netflix has confirmed that Bridgerton will return for seasons 5 and 6, while fans eagerly await the next instalment, set to debut in 2026.
The beloved Regency-era series has officially been renewed for two additional seasons, extending its reign as one of Netflix’s most successful and enduring franchises. The announcement was made during Netflix’s annual upfront presentation, complete with a signature flourish from none other than Lady Whistledown herself.
In the characteristic wit fans have come to adore, her letter teased: “Rarely is this author granted the opportunity to share such news. It would seem this author is going to be quite busy.”

Season 4: Benedict’s love story takes centre stage
While the two-year wait may feel excruciating for diehard viewers, season 4 promises to be worth the patience. This time, the spotlight shifts to Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the family’s bohemian second son known for his artistic flair and aversion to convention.
Benedict’s storyline will follow his slow-burning romance with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), a mysterious beauty known as the “Lady in Silver.” Their connection is expected to bring new depth to the series’ exploration of love across social divides.
With just eight episodes, the upcoming season is expected to deliver a cinematic experience. “Each season is like producing eight short feature films,” said showrunner Jess Brownell, who continues to lead the series alongside executive producers Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.
What to expect from seasons 5 and 6
While full details remain under wraps, fans can expect season 5 to expand on Francesca Stirling’s (Hannah Dodd) storyline, which began unfolding in season 3. Season 6, meanwhile, is widely speculated to finally give Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) her long-overdue romantic arc.
The creative team has been careful to maintain the balance of tradition and modernity that made Bridgerton a global phenomenon — from its classical renditions of pop songs to its inclusive casting and steamy, emotionally rich storytelling.
A Netflix juggernaut
Since its debut in December 2020, Bridgerton has consistently dominated Netflix’s Top 10 charts. Season 1 remains the platform’s fifth most-watched English-language series of all time, with Season 3 following closely behind. The spinoff Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story also soared to record-breaking success, cementing the franchise’s mass appeal.
It’s no surprise, then, that Netflix is doubling down on its commitment to the world of the ton.
A sneak peek – and a long wait
Fans have already been treated to a sneak preview of season 4, which offers a first glimpse at Benedict and Sophie’s initial meeting — a moment already sparking plenty of speculation and excitement online.
Still, with the next season only due to premiere in 2026, fans may be left feeling the absence acutely. Brownell acknowledged the wait, adding: “We are doing everything in our power to start releasing seasons more quickly. But once a year might be a hard target to hit.”
Given the show’s lavish sets, sprawling cast, and intricate production design, it’s no wonder each season takes time to perfect. But with two more confirmed, it’s clear the Bridgerton saga is far from finished — and this author will certainly have her quill full.
