After nearly a decade together, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have revealed they are engaged, marking the next chapter in their long-standing romance.
The 31-year-old model confirmed the news with an Instagram post, sharing a close-up of her hand resting on Ronaldo’s, the large diamond ring glinting under the light. She captioned the post: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives,” a simple yet heartfelt statement that quickly drew thousands of congratulatory messages from fans and friends alike.

A love story years in the making
Ronaldo, now 40, and Rodríguez first met in 2016 when she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. The encounter, which she has described as love at first sight, came at the end of her shift. “A very handsome man almost two metres tall appeared with a child and some friends,” she recalled in her Netflix docuseries Soy Georgina. “I didn’t even want to look at him; I was so shy.”
Their romance blossomed quietly before becoming public later that year, and over time they built a life together that spans continents and football clubs.
Building a family together
The couple share two daughters, Alana Martina, seven, and Bella Esmeralda, three, though Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, tragically passed away at birth. Rodríguez has also taken an active role in raising Ronaldo’s three other children: Cristiano Jr., 15, and twins Eva and Mateo, both eight.
Family life is central to their relationship, and Rodríguez has spoken about instilling strong values in their children, ensuring they remain grounded despite their parents’ fame. “They must be humble and stay connected to reality,” she told Grazia. “Sacrifice, discipline, responsibility, dreams, perseverance, and gratitude are values we want to pass on to them every day.”
From speculation to confirmation
Over the years, the couple have faced constant speculation about when they would marry. Ronaldo previously admitted he was “1,000 per cent sure” it would happen but insisted they were waiting for “the right moment.” Engagement rumours had surfaced earlier this year after Rodríguez was seen wearing another ring, but the couple stayed quiet until now.
The pair, who are currently based in Riyadh while Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr, are expected to include all their children in the wedding celebrations. For now, the couple appear to be enjoying sharing their joy publicly after keeping their engagement private for a while.
