Miss Tina Turner took the world by storm with her raspy voice and killer dance moves.

She also managed to turn heads wherever she went, with sparkles, shimmering across the stage and those legs.

It’s unfortunate that we have to say RIP to the queen of rock & roll, but in her 83 years on this earth, she’s definitely left her mark.

You can’t talk about Tina Turner’s iconic looks without referencing her signature hip-high slits and shimmering frocks. 

 

The Flame Dress

Tina Turner donned Bob Mackie’s iconic flame dress in 1978. This dress went on to be worn by some of the most iconic artists of all time, including Beyonce’ and Cher.

Tina’s Wings

In the late 70s when Tina was finding her feet after leaving the abusive Ike Turner, she wanted her looks to tell her story. With the help of Bob Mackie once again, they created this look. “I looked like I was about to take flight and soar — which was exactly how I felt about being on my own for the first time,” Tina said in her memoir, That’s My Life.

 

Tina’s denim and leather pairing

Tina’s iconic rock & roll denim jacket and leather undergarment ensemble often turned heads.

 

Tina and feathers

Tina loved the theatrics of her costumes and she was known for her quick costume changes when performing live on stage. It wasn’t rare to spot Tina Turner covered in feathers.

 

Tina in fringe

Tina’s signature looks always incorporated an element of fringe that came dangling down her iconic legs. 

 

Tina in cabaret costumes

Tina’s performance outfits often mimicked cabaret costumes. The barely-there outfits often had crystals, diamonds and other details that would accentuate her body.
