On Saturday, Ryan Reynolds put his signature snark on the backburner to share a heartwarming birthday tribute to his wife, Blake Lively for her birthday.
The 46-year-old Deadpool actor and the Gossip Girl star have been together for nearly 11 years, and are no strangers to sharing sweet birthday and milestone messages to one another on social media platforms, with an added dash of playfulness.

On Saturday, as lively celebrated her 36th birthday. Reynolds, known for his sass, took a softer approach in tribute to lively’s special day, sharing a carousel of photos of the couple together.

Among the images, one candid snap of Lively stands out. The mom of four sports a sheer lace mini-dress paired with a black bandeau top on what seems to be a romantic evening by the beach.

Reynolds’ heartfelt caption follows:
“The only thing irrevocably mine in the world is the love and appreciation and awe I feel for this person. Witnessing her life is something I couldn’t take for granted if I tried. And believe me, I try. Happy Birthday, @blakelively. You hung the damn moon.”
This softhearted approach comes year after playful jabs exchanged between the couple on social media, as gleamed by Glamour.
In 2017, Reynolds humorously cropped Lively out of her own birthday photo. In response, Lively retaliated by sharing an image of heartthrob Ryan Gosling on her husband’s birthday a few months later. The following year, Reynolds playfully caught Lively off guard in a series of photos. Notably, in September 2020, he paid tribute to their dog on Instagram after inadvertently missing Lively’s birthday. Her witty comment at the time read, “This is almost as sweet as the birthday post you did for me this year.”
In contrast, Reynolds’ current heartfelt post veers sharply from his usual antics, prompting lighthearted concern from followers.

We’ll have to see if Blake returns the favour on Ryan’s birthday on 23 October.
