If you’re a Friends fanatic and know nearly every episode’s plot line by heart, then you’ll be pleased to know that Jennifer Aniston and one of her besties, Reese Witherspoon have reunited to star in the new Apple series The Morning Show.
The popular actresses first starred together in the hit US show, where Jennifer played Rachel Green and Reese played her younger sister, Amy. The new series has been commissioned for two seasons (20 episodes in total) and is based on Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, a book by Brian Stelter. Whilst the full plot for The Morning Show has not yet been revealed, Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram to share a first-look at the new series.
This teaser trailer pans through the studio and dressing rooms as three distinct voices overlap while arguing about TV news. Jennifer and Reese’s voices are instantly recognisable, but the third voice belongs to none other than Beautiful Boy actor Steve Carell.
A full trailer that launched last month details their roles in the series in a little more depth.
What the trailer here:
After a few seconds, it quickly becomes clear that Jennifer and Steve’s characters once worked together as a bona fide news-anchor duo, but that a mysterious event split the pair up. While looking to revamp the show, producers turn towards Reese’s character as a potential co-anchor, as well as Jennifer’s eventual replacement. Naturally, Jennifer’s character won’t back down without a fight, but for now all we as the audience can do is speculate the outcome of what is set to be a fantastic new show. A release date in SA hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but the series will make its international debut on Apple TV in the first week of November.
It’s been ages since we’ve seen these two impactful women side by side on our screens, so we can’t wait to see how the drama unfolds.
