Women’s Month is one of my favourite months of the year because we are reminded of our power, strength and unity throughout August. At every turn a strong, successful woman is highlighted – which is all the motivation I need for the next push into the second half of the year! What I love the most is the conducive spaces that are created for women to share their stories, their wins and just the all-round camaraderie that goes with it.
In the spirit of women coming together during Women’s Month, here is a comprehensive list – varying between sport, music, painting and business summits – of things to do throughout the month of August 2024 in Cape Town, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal.

One&Only Cape Town’s Annual Women in Wine Event
Every Women’s Month, the One&Only Cape Town hosts the annual Women in Wine event, celebrating female winemakers from across South Africa’s wine country. Taking place on 8 August 2024 at the resort’s Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, Isola, the event features a four-course dining experience paired with some incredible wines produced by some of the winemakers at the event. The event promises to offer a sensory experience, with live music and Resort Sommelier, Luvo Ntezo who will guide guests throughout the evening and teach the art of wine, its subtleties, and how to interpret their different flavours, scents and palettes. This interactive, exclusive experience is a favourite among guests, both local and afar, as they discover their inner sommelier while savouring Cape classics and global standouts.
This year’s event highlights distinguished women viticulturists and passionate winemakers, including Melissa Genevieve Nelsen from Genevieve MCC, Ntsiki Biyela from Aslina Wines, Nongcebo Langa from Delheim Wine Estate, and Wendy Applebaum from DeMorganzon Wine Estate. The menu has been designed by Isola Chef Azania Mana and Head Pastry Chef, Moizyll Baatjies and hosted by Isola Manager, Melissa Smith and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, Pamela Cweni.
