The popular thriller series Big Little Lies has been a real hit amongst fans, mainly due to its all-star ensemble cast and gripping storyline.
But despite the series’ popularity, HBO programming chief Casey Bloys says it’s ‘unrealistic’ that series three would happen due to the very busy schedules of Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz and Meryl Streep.
“The reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. I just think it’s not realistic,” Casey told TV Line.
“I love this group of people – I would do anything with them. We have deals with some of them – Nicole is doing her next show [The Undoing] with us. Look, if they all came to me and said, ‘We worked out all of our schedules!’ – then sure. But I just don’t think it’s realistic.”
Series two of Big Little Lies ended this week, with fans absolutely loving Meryl Streep’s performance as Mary Louise. As a bereaved mother she’s trying her best to find out the truth about what happened to her son, and deal with her grief at the same time.
This very emotionally charged storyline has led fans to speculate that Meryl will be nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy due to the strength of her performance. We think she deserves it too!
Whilst a new instalment of Big Little Lies is looking unlikely so far, we can still get excited about Nicole Kidman’s latest series The Undoing. It’s based on the book You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz, with the story focusing on a successful therapist whose husband goes missing.
This new series has Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley at the helm, so we’re definitely excited to see what he’s got next for us.
