Dricus du Plessis may be one of South Africa’s most recognisable mixed martial artists, but interest in his new wife, Vasti du Plessis, has grown steadily alongside his rise in the sport.
The couple married on Saturday, 10 October 2026, in the Cape Winelands, marking the latest chapter in a relationship that began through the boxing world. Away from the wedding photographs and fight-night appearances, Vasti has built a career that moves between photography, writing and coaching.

Dricus and Vasti du Plessis met through boxing
Vasti, formerly Vasti Spiller, and Dricus met at CIT Boxing in Pretoria in 2023. Their relationship became public later that year, and the couple went on to get engaged in January 2025 when Dricus proposed on his 31st birthday.
Their wedding took place just under two years later, with friends and family gathering in the Cape Winelands for the celebration. Vasti has since begun using the du Plessis surname publicly.
Vasti du Plessis is a photographer and storyteller
Long before she became a familiar face beside Dricus at major fights, Vasti was building her own creative career. She runs Baruch Photography and describes her work through the idea of storytelling, using images to capture people, relationships and significant seasons of their lives.
Her photography work has included lifestyle, couples and wedding shoots. She also studied at North-West University and completed further practical training in photography, giving her a professional path that developed independently of her relationship with the UFC star.
She is also a children’s author and boxing coach
Vasti’s work is not limited to photography. She is the author of The Art of Loving, a children’s book centred on healing, resilience and helping young readers make sense of difficult experiences. The project reflects a wider interest in using storytelling as a way to speak about trauma and recovery in an accessible way.
She is also a boxing coach at CIT Boxing, the same Pretoria gym where she and Dricus first crossed paths. That shared connection to combat sport has remained a visible part of their relationship, with Vasti regularly supporting him through training camps and major UFC events.
Vasti also entered Miss South Africa in 2022, although she did not progress to the later stages of the competition. It is one of several very different spaces she has explored, from pageantry and photography to coaching and writing.
A new chapter for Vasti and Dricus du Plessis
The newlyweds have shared parts of their relationship publicly over the years, but Vasti’s own work has increasingly given audiences a clearer sense of who she is beyond the title of a fighter’s partner.
With a creative business, a published book and a role in the boxing world, Mrs du Plessis enters married life with an identity and career that are very much her own.
