For weeks now, we’ve been waiting for news about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal baby. Finally, the bundle of joy has arrived!
Several reports speculated that she’d already given birth and that the royal family were deliberately not revealing the news. Especially because her due date was originally thought to be in April. Because the Duchess was a tiny bit late – going into labour in her 41st week – there were even bets going around as to when the big announcement would be made. Let all rumours be laid to rest. Now we know for sure.
The new prince – yes, it’s a boy! – was born on the morning of 6 May 2019. The announcement was made shortly after one stating that the Duchess of Sussex had gone into labour, so we’re not entirely sure of the exact timeline. No matter, good news is good news. Meghan was last seen in public in March, deciding to spend the remainder of her pregnancy at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor with Prince Harry and her mom, Doria Ragland. She was very busy throughout the pregnancy, keeping many local and international royal appointments, so it was a well-deserved break from the media.
On the Royal Family’s official Instagram page, this announcement was made saying simply that the duchess had been delivered a son and that the family was delighted by the news – especially Meghan’s mom Doria as this is her first grandchild. We also couldn’t be more thrilled! Both mom and baby are doing well.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news. The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.
The new prince is 7th in line to the throne and, for now, his name is yet to be announced. As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.
