Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay have announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, posting a series of images taken in an open field, holding up sonogram photographs. In one of the photos, Lautner bends to kiss his wife’s stomach while she stands in a white skirt and tank top.
“What’s better than two Taylor Lautners?” they wrote in the caption — a nod to the long-running joke about the couple sharing a name, which has been a source of warmth and humour throughout their relationship.

A love story that started slowly
The pair first went public with their relationship in 2018, having been introduced by Lautner’s sister. He met Tay during a deliberate step back from the entertainment industry — a period he has spoken about openly as one of personal recalibration.
He proposed in November 2021, surrounding the moment with rose petals, candles and a neon sign spelling out his surname. Tay’s response on social media was unambiguous: “My absolute best friend. I cannot wait to spend forever with you.” Lautner replied in the comments: “Got news for you, the feeling is mutual.”
The couple married on 11 November 2022 at Epoch Estate Wines in California’s wine country, in a ceremony they described as intimate and intentional. “We just wanted the day to feel celebratory,” Lautner recalled. “Everybody there meant so much to us.”
A new chapter
Lautner rose to global fame playing Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise and has maintained a devoted following ever since. He and Tay also co-host a podcast together, where they have previously spoken candidly about their lives as a couple — including Tay’s openness about her fertility journey and what the prospect of starting a family meant to her.
No due date or further details have been shared beyond the announcement. For now, the Lautners are simply — and joyfully — expecting.
