Springbok captain Siya Kolisi marked his first Father’s Day as a single parent with heartfelt family moments, a few famous friends, and a quiet nod to the journey he’s taken to become the father he is today.
Fresh from his recent separation from Rachel Kolisi, Siya shared a glimpse into his weekend on Instagram, offering fans a candid look at how he’s navigating this new chapter.

In the post, Siya beamed alongside his children, Nicholas and Keziah, and also posed with close friend and fellow Bok, Cheslin Kolbe, and their combined brood of kids. A few sweet snaps also featured his younger sister, Liphelo, whom he adopted with Rachel years ago after reuniting with her in foster care.
“Lekker weekend,” he simply captioned the post, letting the pictures speak volumes about where his focus lies—on family, togetherness, and the small moments that count.

Siya’s story has always been about more than rugby. Raised by his grandmother after his mother’s passing, and estranged from his father, Fezakele Kolisi, the 33-year-old has never shied away from discussing the challenges of his upbringing. His childhood was marked by poverty, loss, and the pain of witnessing gender-based violence against his mother.
Yet, in recent years, Siya has made a conscious effort to rebuild his relationship with his dad. In 2021, he shared a rare image of the two of them together, opening up about the emotional conversation they’d had.
“I’m not sure about the relationship between time and healing, but I now know that in time, we can grow the courage we need in order to take the first steps towards healing,” he wrote at the time.
“The relationship with this man is important to me. And I’m glad for the opportunity and strength to keep fighting for it.”
A grounded reminder of what really matters
Now a father of two—and a father figure to more—Siya’s approach to parenting is anchored in intentionality, healing, and resilience. While this year’s Father’s Day may have looked different for him, it served as a quiet celebration of the progress he’s made and the legacy he’s building.
And, judging by the smiles on his kids’ faces, it was every bit as meaningful.
