The school term is over, and Rachel Kolisi is feeling it. The author and director took to Instagram on Friday, 25 June, to mark the end of term two and the start of the June-to-July school holiday for her two children, Nicholas, 11, and Keziah, 9.
“We made it through term two and halfway through the year! Proud of us”, she wrote, her caption capturing the particular energy of a parent exhaling at the end of a full semester.

Closer to home
The school holidays arrive at a significant moment for the family. Siya Kolisi, who has been based in Durban playing for the Sharks, has confirmed that he will leave the franchise at the end of the season in July and rejoin the Stormers in Cape Town, where Rachel and the children live. The move is explicitly about proximity to his family.
“While I had hoped to complete my career at the Sharks, I have to be there for my family, who were unable to relocate to Durban. This decision wasn’t easy, but it is about being closer to my kids,” Siya said in a statement. “I leave with nothing but respect for the Sharks and real belief in where this team is heading.”
Rachel and Siya announced their separation in October 2024 after eight years of marriage. Both have navigated the change publicly and with evident care for the children at the centre of it. Siya and Rachel also legally adopted Siya’s younger siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, in 2014, and Rachel has remained close to both of them.
For now, though, it is the end of term, and someone is proud of how they all got through it. That is enough for a Friday.
