The Miss South Africa Organisation has officially postponed its annual pageant, originally set for August, to a “later date in 2025.”

In a statement released today, the organisation explained that the decision was made to “ensure greater alignment with international and other global events.”
While a new date has not been confirmed, the pageant’s team assured fans that further announcements would follow.
“The pillars of the Organisation will be expanded to include entrepreneurship, job creation, cultural awareness and social cohesion,” the statement added — hinting at a broader and more socially-driven vision for the brand moving forward.

The news comes just weeks after it was confirmed that longtime CEO Stephanie Weil has officially stepped down.
Weil, who took over from her late mother in 2019, was praised for steering the pageant in a more inclusive and socially conscious direction. Under her leadership, Miss SA evolved beyond traditional beauty standards to become a platform for empowerment, diversity and advocacy.
Weil’s departure — along with the earlier resignation of creative director Werner Wessels and the organisation’s exit from the Miss Supranational franchise — has raised questions about the future of the pageant and its current leadership.
Online speculation around the fate of Miss SA 2025 has been mounting for weeks, especially after the usual July reveal of the Top 30 contestants failed to take place.
Fans have taken to social media to express confusion and concern, with many calling for greater transparency from the organisation.
Despite the delays, organisers have maintained that preparations for the 2025 event are still underway — and now, it seems, part of a much larger realignment.
As the brand enters a new chapter, all eyes will be on how Miss South Africa continues to evolve — and whether the postponed event will deliver on its promise of broader impact in a global pageant landscape.
