Kenya’s favourite export will play Trevor’s mom Patricia in the movie. According to Variety, Trevor is producing the movie through his company, Ark Angel Productions.
Lupita, who wrote on social media that when she read Born A Crime she “could not put it down”, will also be one of the producers on the project.
Trevor wrote this touching message to Lupita about his mom on Instagram:
“My mom is a powerful woman who could easily be one of the beautiful soldiers in Wakanda. So it’s beyond a perfect fit that she would be portrayed on the big screen by the radiant and regal Lupita Nyong’ o. I’m beyond excited.”
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, which is set in the fantasy African nation of Wakanda, took in over R16.8 million at the South African box office with nearly 200k attendances for its 3-day opening weekend.
It’s shattering records around the world and has earned rave reviews, becoming the biggest industry opening weekend of all time in both East and West Africa.
