Local actress Leeanda Reddy loved working with the tall dark and handsome Idris Elba in new movie, The Dark Tower.
The movie is based on a series of books written by Stephen King.
“It was definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment,” says the actress, who plays Dr Weizak in the film. In her scene, she attends to Roland (Elba) in hospital and gives him feedback on test results.
Leeanda says she was nervous before the scene, but seeing how gracious and confident Idris was helped to put her at ease.
“After our rehearsal, Idris complimented me on my work and I almost collapsed! I thought, ‘Okay, I don’t ever need to work again – I just got a compliment from Idris Elba!”
When describing what the handsome English actor is like to work with, Leeanda said he’s incredibly commanding and is as beautiful in person as he is on screen.
She also said there’s something mysterious and statuesque about him that makes everyone in the room take notice. “He’s not very chatty and takes his work very seriously, but he has an incredible presence. Let’s just say, I was in awe!”
Her other lifelong Hollywood crushes are Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy and, with Leeanda’s luck, she very well might get a scene with them in the future.
When asked who she’d choose between Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, who plays Roland’s enemy in The Dark Tower, she said, “I’m probably biased, but I’d have to choose Idris. I’ve wanted to work with him for years.”
The Dark Tower follows the story of the last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who’s charged with protecting our world from the sinister Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) in this action fantasy film.
The Dark Tower itself is a mythical structure that holds the universe together and comes under threat when The Man in Black seeks to ruin the world.
The Dark Tower is on in cinemas now. Watch the trailer below:
