Fashion statement or…what were they thinking? We’re scoping Grammy’s fashion

Who are we kidding – one of the main reasons we tune into award shows is to see all of the bold fashion choices from our most loved stars! And, as much as we try to deny it, our inner fashion police kicks in strong when we do. Either we love the ensemble, or we find ourselves asking…“what were they thinking?”

Over time, we’ve witnessed the biggest hits and misses of award-show fashion. This year’s Grammys were no different –standout moments were made on the red carpet! Some that we’re here for, and some, well, not so much.

Without further ado, here’s your Fashion Editor, Amy Steenkamp, reporting from fashion police headquarters:

2023’s Grammy fashion wins

Cardi B turned heads with this avant-garde gown, and she’s absolutely on trend with the cobalt blue colour, too! This look is giving equally sexy and elegant, and it makes a statement. Cardi flaunts her beautiful curves with confidence and her accessories and hairstyle are matched perfectly.

Beyoncé made history at the 2023 Grammy Awards in a mixed metal colour ensemble. The futuristic feel gave us ‘out of this world’ feels with a touch of femininity in a frill detail –reminiscent of late designer icon Paco Rabanne’s mixed material dresses. Beyoncé’s above-the-elbow gloves gave an edgy yet elegant finishing touch.

Easy On Me singer, Adele, opted for an old Hollywood Glam look in this deep maroon/wine gown, with velvet material and structured paneling as sleeves on the shoulders. The added belt cinches her waist beautifully. This is the epitome of glamour.

Simplicity is an elegance to strive for, and Emma Brooks nailed it! This Silhouette is so youthful yet stylishly elevated with the plunging neckline, shoulder pads, and slit. The black nails and shoes are the perfect accompaniment to her wet-look-styled hair. A rather modern image for Emma!
