The 30-year-old bride wore a halterneck Chanel gown embroidered with 480 000 beads, with intricate trompe l’oeil jewellery effects woven throughout the design by Chanel’s Lesage maison — a process that took 1 155 hours to complete. The result was precisely as extraordinary as that sounds.

The ceremony took place at Villa Valguarnera in Sicily, a setting that provided the kind of romantic Italian backdrop that makes guests feel they have stepped into a film. Callum Turner, 36, was suited in black tie — looking, as various commentators have noted, very much like the next James Bond, a comparison that George Clooney has already endorsed publicly.
A wedding in two chapters
The Sicilian celebration was the second act of a wedding that technically began in London last month. Lipa and Turner made their union legal at Old Marylebone Town Hall on a Saturday morning in late May, with Lipa in a white skirt suit and hat for the civil ceremony.

Sicily was always the main event — the larger gathering of family and friends in a setting that clearly means something to the couple.
