Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have officially finalised their divorce more than a year after filing, closing the chapter on a relationship that spanned over two decades.
The former couple, who were married for 14 years, shared identical statements on Instagram this past weekend confirming the news. While their romantic journey has ended, their commitment to co-parenting their three children remains firmly intact.

A respectful end to a long love story
In their joint message, Cohen and Fisher said:
“Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. We ask for the media to continue to respect our children’s privacy.”
The tone of the announcement reflects the same discretion they have shown throughout their relationship, choosing to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight. Their divorce proceedings have reportedly been amicable, with a mutual focus on what matters most: their family.
From Sydney to the world stage
Sacha, 53, and Isla, 49, first met at a party in Sydney in 2001. At the time, Fisher was gaining recognition for her work in Home and Away, while Baron Cohen had already introduced the world to his controversial alter ego Ali G. The two were engaged in 2004 and tied the knot in a private ceremony in Paris six years later. They went on to have three children together—two daughters and a son.
Their relationship, often described by fans as refreshingly low-key for Hollywood standards, came to an end in 2023 when they filed for divorce. However, they only made the news public in April 2024 with a joint announcement likening their marriage to “a long tennis match lasting over twenty years.”
A billion-rand settlement, but no drama
According to reports, the divorce settlement is valued at approximately $75 million (about R1.5 billion). Despite the sizeable figure, sources close to the couple insist the process was handled with mutual respect.
“Of course, all divorces have their challenges, but things have gone pretty smoothly with Isla and Sacha,” an insider told Page Six, adding that both parties have prioritised their children’s wellbeing throughout.
In a rare interview with The Sunday Times, Fisher opened up about the emotional weight of the split.
“I never imagined my family being separated, but we are committed and loving parents,” she said. “This has been the most difficult thing I’ve been through, but it’s also taught me a lot about myself.”
Moving forward, separately but united in parenthood
As they each begin new chapters, Sacha and Isla appear aligned in their desire to protect their children’s privacy and uphold the respectful tone they’ve maintained throughout their separation.
Though their marriage is over, their shared story remains one of quiet dignity, proving that a respectful ending is still possible even in the glare of celebrity life.
