The beloved local voice, Mark Pilgrim, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer earlier this year. After receiving the diagnosis, Mark opened up about his cancer journey online, sharing Youtube vlogs and keeping followers on his social media accounts updated on his condition.
Last week, Mark took to Instagram, posting that his immune system had crashed and his lung had collapsed. Still, he has remained positive, sharing updates about his recovery since going for surgery on Thursday last week. The surgery was necessary to re-inflate his collapsed lung and drain the lung fluid.
In his first update post-surgery, Mark shares another post dedicated to his supportive wife, Adrienne:

“I get excited when it’s hospital visiting hours. Thank you baby love for always being by my side.”
In a second Instagram post during his ICU recovery, Mark shares:

“Hospital day 4… with my Adrienne by my side.”
He goes on to say:
“One day, as we sip cocktails on the beach, with our toes in the sand and the girls laughing in the background, we’ll look back at these past months and say that this was one hell of a journey… and we got through it.”
On day 5 of recovery, Mark shared that he has another 7-10 days of recovery in the ICU, preparing for a procedure to inflate his lung ‘for good.’ He also mentions that he’s feeling much better, and thanks his followers for all the well wishes.
