Renowned South African jewellery designer and philanthropist Jenna Clifford has passed away at the age of 68, following a battle with advanced-stage cancer.
She died peacefully on the evening of 20 May 2025, surrounded by her daughters, Shayna, Chanelle and Summer. The family confirmed the news in a moving statement, describing her final months as marked by “unwavering courage, grace, dignity, strength and endless gratitude.”

A pioneering spirit in jewellery design
Jenna Clifford was a creative force who redefined what jewellery could represent. Through her eponymous brand, she created pieces that were not only visually striking but also rich in symbolism and personal meaning. Her designs were more than decorative—they were emotional heirlooms that marked life’s milestones and honoured cherished memories.
Founded with a deep sense of purpose, the Jenna Clifford brand came to stand for authenticity, craftsmanship and storytelling. Each collection reflected her belief that jewellery should be as meaningful as it is beautiful—connecting people to their heritage, identity and one another.
Championing women and community upliftment
Clifford’s contributions extended far beyond design. She was a tireless advocate for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, using her platform to mentor and uplift countless individuals. Through workshops, talks and one-on-one mentorship, she inspired a generation of women to believe in their potential and pursue their passions.
“She was an icon, mentor, friend and hero to so many,” her daughters said. “Her character was magnetic, she was inspiring and she believed passionately in supporting others to realise their inherent potential.”
Her humanitarian work and advocacy were rooted in love and a deep belief in the transformative power of education, economic empowerment and creativity. Those fortunate enough to cross her path often left feeling seen, encouraged, and capable of more than they imagined.
A life remembered, a legacy continued
Jenna Clifford leaves behind a legacy that stretches far beyond the jewellery she designed. She built a business founded on integrity and heart, and she poured that same spirit into her relationships with friends, colleagues and clients.
Her daughters, who plan to continue her work and steward the brand she built with so much love, will hold a private funeral in the days ahead. A public memorial to celebrate Clifford’s extraordinary life will take place in Johannesburg, with details to be announced in due course.
She is survived by her daughters, whose tribute captures the essence of a woman who lived with passion, purpose and an open heart.
“Her legacy lives on in us, in the company she built, and in the lives she touched so deeply. We will honour her with every step forward.”
