Cameron Diaz has become a mother for the third time. The actress and her husband, Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden, welcomed a son named Nautus on Monday, 4 May. Benji shared the news on Instagram, writing that the couple were “happy, excited and feeling so blessed” about the arrival.
The name carries a deliberate meaning. Alongside the announcement, the couple shared a character card explaining the origin: “Sailor, navigator, voyager. One who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown.” Diaz, 53, added heart and sparkle emojis in the comments.
A family built with intention
Nautus joins the couple’s daughter Raddix, born in 2019, and son Cardinal, born in 2024. The couple married in 2015 and have spoken openly about the work that went into building their family, including IVF and other fertility treatments before welcoming Raddix.
Diaz, who stepped away from acting for several years to focus on family life before her return to screens in 2023, has spoken candidly about the experience of becoming a mother later in life. “When you’re my age and you decide to do it, it’s a real choice. You really have to work hard for it,” she told Naomi Campbell in a recent interview.
She has also joked about the long-term commitment involved: “The only pressure for me now is I have to live to be, like, 107.” Three children in, it seems the Madden family are taking it one joyful step at a time.
