Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have settled their legal dispute, bringing a two-year battle to a close just two weeks before the case was due to go to trial on 18 May. The settlement was confirmed on Monday, with both parties releasing a joint statement through TMZ.
Lively had filed a complaint against Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios in December 2024, alleging that he and members of his team had orchestrated a coordinated campaign to damage her reputation in retaliation for raising concerns about misconduct on the set of It Ends With Us. Baldoni subsequently countersued for $400 million, alleging that Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds had run a smear campaign against him. That countersuit was later dismissed.
In April, Judge Lewis Liman dismissed ten of Lively’s thirteen claims, leaving breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting retaliation for Baldoni to defend at trial. The settlement was reached before that point.
What the statement said
The joint statement struck a conciliatory tone while acknowledging that the process had been difficult. “The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” it read. “Raising awareness and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors is a goal that we stand behind.”
The statement also acknowledged that concerns Lively had raised deserved to be heard, and expressed a commitment to workplaces free of impropriety. “It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace,” it concluded.
Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
