Ashley Graham is young, beautiful, bountiful, and she’s shaking up the world of fashion and beauty. Ashley works as a plus-size model who’s proud of her curves and she’s not afraid to show it. Here are a few things we’ve learned from Ashley Graham and her full-figured prowess in body activism:
Embrace Your Body
If there’s one thing that you can learn from Ashley’s time in the spotlight, it’s that you need to love yourself. Putting a healthy body and mind first is more important than being the smallest size in the shop.
Don’t Limit Yourself or Talents
In the fashion world, Ashley has worn many more hats than most industry-standard models. Her distinctive career has included editorial, catalogue, runway, commercial, TV, and film. It seems that is only the beginning as Ashley has been involved in designing lately too.
Push The Boundaries and Set Big Goals
In February 2015, Ashley made history as the first plus-size model to feature in Sport’s Illustrated Swimsuit edition. swimsuitsforall’s #CurvesinBkinis campaign brought Ashley to the famous pages. She continued her call for equality in other campaigns with Lane Bryant such as #ImNoAngel and #PlusIsEqual.
Be The Change You Want To See
Staying true to being a role model for women embracing their curves, as well as sharing the frustration many plus-sized women feel about what’s available out there, Ashley launched her own lingerie line. You can find lingerie that not only fits well but accentuates your assets on AshleyGrahamCollections.com, because every woman deserves to feel sexy. Ashley will also be designing swimsuit collections for swimsuitsforall and her first collection launched this year on 5 May.
Challenge The Conventions
Ashley co-founded ALDA which is a collective of models showcasing ‘beauty beyond size’. The aim is to shine a light on the many different sizes, shapes, colours and looks of beauty from around the world. We might be looking at a different fashion industry sooner rather than later.
