These five local authors are making waves in the book world…
Jassy made her break into books in 2008 with her first novel, Random Violence. Since then, she’s become one of SA’s premier crime writers, and has just collaborated with international bestselling author James Patterson, on a book for his latest project, short story series BookShots.

A lawyer by profession, Gail published her first book, written for children, in 2007. She followed up a year later with her first novel for adults, Whatever Happened to the Cowley Twins?, and has since published two more, with the latest due for release in February.

Marita van der Vyver
Originally from Cape Town, Marita now lives in France. She has written 22 adult and children’s books, including A Fountain in France, and two cookbooks. Her novel, Just Dessert, Dear, which was published in 2010, was adapted as an Afrikaans film, Dis Koue Kos, Skat, and her new book is out in March.

By day, Pamela works as the script editor for local soapie Muvhango, but by night, she pens novels. Her first, Ms Conception was a witty take on the life of a busy mom and career woman; and her second, the whodunnit Things Unseen. Her third, Delilah Now Trending is out in April.

Dystopian fiction author Fred broke into the book industry in 2015 with his debut The Raft, and in May, releases his much-anticipated second book The Inside-Out Man. When he’s not pouring his heart into a new book, Fred works as a TV producer and writer.
