In a rare TV interview, Victoria Beckham, 42, recently told UK TV show, This Morning, that she uses coconut oil on her face and body.
In the interview Victoria is asked which moisturiser she uses and explains, “I use coconut oil, the kind of oil that you would cook with,” adding, “I use it all over my body as well because it’s really really moisturising.”
After struggling with acne scars in her 20s and 30s, the British fashion designer discovered that a R75 jar of supermarket coconut oil held the key to transforming her skin.
In addition to its hydrating and nourishing effects, which banish dry skin, coconut oil contains lauric acrid which is known for its antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.
Our beauty ed’s top tips for using coconut oil:
- Make sure you buy raw, unrefined virgin coconut oil
- Coconut oil is great for minimising the appearance of stretch marks
- It’s best to apply coconut oil at night as your sunscreen won’t be as effective if applied over it in the day
- It’s great as an overnight hair mask for dry scalps and split ends
