Few things in life bring about a sense of calm and well-being like hopping into a hot shower does.
And not only is showering one of the easiest ways to awaken your mind, body and senses, but it has a multitude of other positive psychological effects, too, such as being able to relieve the need for socialising. Who knew?
So if you find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a pick-me-up, we say it’s time to transform your shower into a spa-like experience.
How? Simply add three to five drops of one of these aromatic essential oils to your shower floor before you hop in to give your mood the ultimate boost!
The scent of citrus does shouts happiness. Choose from zesty lemon, bitter grapefruit, or sweet orange essentials oils to give yourself some joy.
Use a few drops of rosemary essential oil when you need to focus, as this aromatic herb is known to improve mental clarity. Add a drop of cardamom essential oil for an extra zap of sharpness and a sense of being grounded.
Relax and Unwind
The perfect oil for soothing a weary mind before bed? Mix up your own dreamy blend of herbal lavender and camomile with a dash of grounding patchouli.
Want to stay ‘on the ball’ and feel more refreshed? Try adding a few drops of peppermint essential oil to your morning shower. It’s a hybrid of spearmint and water mint, and is renowned for its cooling sensation.
Delightfully fresh and full of zing, bergamot essential oil is extracted from the peel of the bergamot orange and is what you want to reach for if you’re feeling a little down or unsure of yourself, as it helps to increase levels of serotonin, the happy hormone, in the limbic system.
