Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard took to Instagram on Sunday to mark Mother’s Day with a heartfelt tribute to his wife Marise — her first as a mother of two. Accompanying a series of photos of Marise with their children, Hunter (now two) and Isabella (six months), his message was simple and clearly meant.
“Happy mother’s day my lief. We can’t thank you enough for everything you do and sacrifice for us each and every day. There are no words to describe how much we appreciate you. The three of us love you with everything in our hearts,” he wrote.

A family finding its rhythm
Handre and Marise have been together for more than 13 years, having connected through Facebook in 2012 and married at Cavalli Estate in the Cape Winelands in 2017. The couple spent time in the UK when Handre joined Leicester Tigers in 2022 before returning to South Africa in 2025 when he rejoined the Bulls.
Back home, they have been settling into a country lifestyle that Marise has described as deliberately rooted — raising their children close to animals, fresh eggs and open space. Two kids under two for most of the past year, a new house, a new chapter. Sunday was a day to pause and mark all of it.
