Josh Groban will receive the 2843rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, 6 May, in the Recording category. The 45-year-old singer and songwriter will be joined at the ceremony by Ben Schwartz, Josh Gad and inductee David Foster.
Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez described Groban as an artist with an uncommon ability to connect. “Josh has this incredible way of connecting with people through his music — it really stays with you. It’s been amazing to watch his journey over the years,” she said.
A career built on staying power
Groban’s journey to the Walk of Fame began in remarkable circumstances. He first came to public attention as a teenager, standing in for an ill Andrea Bocelli during a Grammy rehearsal alongside Celine Dion at the age of 17 — a moment that led directly to his recording career.
Nine studio albums later, his tenth — Cinematic — is due for release on 8 May, two days after his Walk of Fame ceremony. It is a confluence that speaks to a career that has never really stopped moving, even as the musical landscape around him has shifted considerably.
Groban’s voice has remained one of the most recognisable in contemporary classical crossover, his fan base spanning generations and geographies in a way that few artists in any genre manage to sustain.
