Thirty hours of labour. Forty-one weeks and two days. And then, finally, Klein Vermaakie arrived. Former Miss South Africa Natasha Vermaak and her husband Enrico have announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, in a post shared on Instagram alongside a collage of images from her delivery. “She’s finally here. Our greatest, biggest blessing,” Natasha wrote.
The couple have not yet revealed their daughter’s name publicly.
A love story that started young
Natasha and Enrico have been together for a decade, having first started dating as teenagers. Enrico proposed during a sunset cruise at the V&A Waterfront in February 2024, and the couple married in an intimate ceremony at Cavalli Estate in Cape Town later that year. Their daughter’s arrival comes just days before they mark their first wedding anniversary.
Natasha announced her pregnancy in October, explaining that she and Enrico had kept it quiet for five months while waiting for health checks and an anatomy scan to be completed. She was candid about the emotional complexity of the experience from the start. “I have been challenged mentally, physically and psychologically,” she wrote at the time, acknowledging the turbulence that accompanied what was also a period of great joy.
A pregnancy shared honestly
Throughout her pregnancy, Natasha kept her followers close — sharing not just the milestones but the harder moments alongside them. The couple revealed they were expecting a girl through a gender reveal video, cutting into a pink-centred cake together at a picnic setting. In November, they celebrated with a pink-themed baby shower at Rosemary Hill Farm in Pretoria West.
Now, with Klein Vermaakie in their arms, all of that patience and honesty has found its answer. Some waits, it turns out, are worth every difficult moment along the way.
