There are moments in new parenthood that do not make it into the polished Instagram posts — the white-knuckle drive home from the hospital, the silent exchange between two people looking at each other and wondering what happens next. Former Miss SA and Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Tebow captured one of those moments this week, sharing a tender reflection on bringing baby Daphne Reign home for the first time eight months ago.
In a video posted to Instagram, Demi-Leigh recalled watching her husband navigate the drive home with a level of caution she had never seen from him before. He checked his mirrors repeatedly before every lane change and kept both hands firmly on the wheel the entire way. It was, she noted warmly, probably the slowest she had ever seen him drive.
“There’s that overwhelming responsibility that you feel, not just for yourself or your partner, but for another human being,” she said.
Once home, the couple looked at each other and asked the question every new parent asks: What now? They decided to let their daughter lead.

Eight months on
Daphne Reign Tebow was born on 6 July 2025 and is the couple’s first child. In her caption, Demi-Leigh reflected on just how much has changed in those eight months — and how much joy has come with watching her daughter’s personality begin to emerge.
“We’re still figuring it out day by day, but watching her grow into her personality has been the greatest joy. She’s our happy girl, and we are so grateful,” she wrote.
Demi-Leigh was born in Sedgefield on the Garden Route in the Western Cape. She and her husband are based in the United States, though the couple held her baby shower at La Motte wine farm in Franschhoek. The pair met through her husband’s charitable foundation, after Demi-Leigh’s late sister Franje was invited to one of its events.
