Jessie J has revealed that she was admitted to hospital again, just six weeks after undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The 37-year-old singer, who shared her diagnosis earlier this year, said she was taken in with suspected blood clots, but later discovered she was battling a lung infection and fluid build-up.
The unexpected setback follows a mastectomy and breast reconstruction, which she previously described as successful.

A cancer diagnosis and swift action
Jessie first disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis in April 2025, sharing with fans that it had been caught at an early stage. She underwent surgery on 23 June to remove the cancer, followed by reconstructive surgery. By early July, she was able to confirm that her post-surgical results showed no signs of further cancer.
Her honesty about the diagnosis and recovery process earned widespread support from fans, with many praising her for speaking openly about both the physical and emotional toll of the experience.
A frightening return to hospital
On Sunday, 3 August, Jessie posted an update on her Instagram story, revealing she had been readmitted to hospital. She shared a photo of her arm fitted with a cannula and explained that she had returned to the same ward where she had recovered after surgery.
“Six weeks post-surgery and I was back in the same ward,” she wrote. “Not expected or planned.”
She had initially feared a blood clot after developing worrying symptoms and breathing difficulties. Tests later confirmed that the real cause was an infection and fluid on her lungs — a complication that, while not uncommon post-surgery, required urgent care.
Continuing recovery as an outpatient
Despite struggling to breathe, Jessie made the decision to discharge herself on 2 August and will now receive ongoing treatment as an outpatient.
Her decision to share this recent health scare highlights her continued transparency with her fans and her commitment to raising awareness about life after breast cancer.
Although the road to full recovery has had its challenges, Jessie’s spirit and determination remain clear. From early diagnosis to unexpected complications, she has faced each stage with resilience — and continues to focus on her healing journey.
