Besides the ever increasing prices of Airbnb these days, there are lots of reasons why booking a hotel room may be the right choice for you, especially if you’re solo travelling.

Solo travel is a wonderful way to connect to yourself. Plus the freedom that comes with it – getting up when you want to, choosing how you spend your time and changing plans on a whim. But when you’re travelling alone, where you stay makes a difference to your overall experience. While Airbnb may be appealing, there are several reasons why a hotel room may be better.
You have someone to turn to
A big advantage of staying in a hotel room is having staff available when you need them. There’s always someone at reception who can assist with various issues: directions, help when you’ve locked yourself out or arranging transport. If you’re navigating an unfamiliar city on your own, a hotel room can be particularly reassuring.
Security feels more straightforward
Hotels usually have established reception areas, access to the premises is controlled and there are other guest coming and going throughout the day. We understand that no accommodation is completely risk-free but many hotels offer 24-hour reception or security, and having other people around can provide a sense of safety when travelling alone.
You don’t have to manage the property
A great holiday involves not having to worry about everyday household tasks. With a hotel, you can leave the cleaning and basic maintenance to someone else.
You also don’t have to be concerned with instructions about rubbish collection, appliances and keys. You can simply return to your room and relax.
It’s easier to meet people
Solo travel doesn’t always have to mean being alone all the time. With hotels, there’s natural opportunities for interaction, whether it’s having a drink at the bar, having breakfast or chatting with the staff.
Some hotels even offer tours, activities and communal spaces, which makes it easier to connect with other travellers. And if you don’t want to, you simply opt out and return to your room.
Location makes a difference
Hotels are usually located in well-connected places, near restaurants, attractions and public transport. This can make it easier to get around, especially if you don’t have use of a personal car.
The bottom line
Airbnb is still excellent for certain trips, especially for longer stays. But for solo travel, it’s the convenience, support and security that can make your holiday feel considerably easier, leaving you to enjoy your adventures.
