Time magazine has named it’s Person Of The Year with a powerful video and poignant magazine cover to mark the announcement.
The Silence Breakers, the personalities who came forward and revealed their experiences with sexual harassment, took the title.
The Time cover featured Ashleigh Judd, Taylor Swift and 3 other woman, who had bravely shared their often shocking stories involving inappropriate behaviour and unwanted sexual advances.
The cover also features the elbow of someone who has been cut off from the picture. According to Time, this represents a hospital worker from Texas who also came forward with her story, but was worried about what impact appearing in the photo would have on her family.
“She is faceless on the cover and remains nameless inside TIME’s red borders, but her appearance is an act of solidarity, representing all those who are not yet able to come forward and reveal their identities.”
In the video, various other men and women speak about their experiences, including actresses Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano and Selma Blair, and founder of the #MeToo movement Turana Burke.

The winner of Time Person Of The Year is chosen based on how they have influenced events during the preceding year.
The award has always courted controversy with it’s choices – previous winners include Donald Trump, Adolf Hitler and Bill Clinton (following the Monica Lewinski scandal).
