The world’s best universities have been named in the QS World University Rankings list, published by Quacquarelli Symonds. Can you guess which South African institutions took first and second place in the country?
The list included 11 of South Africa’s institutions in the top 1500 universities worldwide.
Overall, two of the nation’s universities have climbed the global ranks since the last recorded list in 2023.
The University of Cape Town climbed the ranking by two places, while the University of KwaZulu Natal entered the top 600, placing 587th.
Other South African universities either improved by a fraction, stayed within the same broad range, or entered a lower range.
The University of Pretoria slid down by 0.6 points among the local universities ranked in the top 600.
