It’s as if we just blinked and almost half of 2025 is already behind us. By now you’ve probably glanced over your New Year’s resolutions and goals pasted on the fridge since January countless times.
After some reflection you’ve realised that things are not quite going according to the grand plan. But why so? Well, you might be feeling bogged down by life’s everyday stresses and lack the time to get to that evening workout you vowed to do this year or the motivation to finally declutter the garage so that you can use it for it’s intended purpose…
While improving ourselves, ticking off essential to-dos and working towards long-term goals is important, maybe it’s time to take some of the pressure off and change things up a bit. Here’s how:
Assign monthly themes
Assigning a theme to every month can make day-to-day routines feel more purposeful, help keep you motivated and guide your actions and aspirations while you pursue your bigger picture.

How to use monthly themes
Alignment: Opt for a theme that resonates with your personal interests and goals. A theme could focus on learning a new skill, practising a habit, or specific areas of life you want to improve. You could also choose themes related to seasonal events and holidays.
Specifics: Break down the theme into smaller, more specific and manageable goals to help keep you on track this time around.
Fun: While incorporating the theme into your day-to-day routine make it enjoyable to keep you engaged.
Reflection: Think about what you have learned and achieved at the end of each month and check to see if/how it has helped you inch towards your longer-term goals.
