’90s ballet pump flats are back on fashion’s radar! Every few years, fashion trends make their way back into style. Since the obsession with the return of the 90s and Y2K has made a solid comeback in fashion, it’s no surprise that we’ve seen these pumps make a comeback, strutting down fashion’s runways.

Our opinion? Unlike other trends that have resurfaced, the ballet pump is a fashion classic. It’s a timeless shoe that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

History of the ballet pump

Although the shoe only gained massive popularity by the late 90s and 2000s, the ballet pump dates back to the 1950s in the world of dance. A footwear designer created a pair for Brigitte Bardot to wear in the movie And God Created Woman and later for Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. The simple ballet pump launched into becoming an extremely popular style of shoe for women all over the world.

Since then, the pump has re-emerged time and time again, but the difference now is how it is being styled.

Ballet pumps in 2023

The comeback of ballet pumps is a little different this time around. The style boasts actual ballet slippers with lace-up details, box toes, and slim, elegant silhouettes.
