Our fashion team gave a special reader, Joyce Naidoo, 66, a makeover recently. She was eager to experiment with a different style, finding new ways with dresses especially. We tackled this season’s big trend – layering.
We’re all challenged by layers, as it adds bulk, but as it gets colder it’s unavoidable. Follow our tips and layer like a pro!
Layering a dress over jeans is the easiest way to transition a dress into the colder season. Here are a few things to remember to avoid looking frumpy:
- Go for a loose dress or tunic with a shorter hemline
- Layer colour on colour
- Choose slim leg jeans
Black is a sure favourite to slim down your figure. Go for a pop of colour with a soft turtleneck underneath your basic black dress.
Then, add your final layer with a fun printed wrap draped over your shoulders. The V-shape created by the wrap is flattering for a heavier bust – longer necklaces will do the job too!
Finally, balance your bold print with an interesting shoe detail like studs.
