An iconic Cape Town restaurant is taking over The Waldorf Hilton’s dining room for three months of daring dishes, standout cocktails and signature flair
One of South Africa’s most celebrated restaurants, The Pot Luck Club, is heading north for a limited-time London residency. From 13 August to 30 November 2025, the Cape Town institution will transform Homage, the flagship restaurant at The Waldorf Hilton, London, offering its distinctive small plates and globally inspired flavours in a new, grand setting.
The collaboration is a meeting of two icons in their own right: The Pot Luck Club, known for its inventive dishes and relaxed energy, and The Waldorf Hilton, a fixture of Edwardian opulence in the heart of London’s theatre district. The result promises to be a dining experience where personality meets polish, and every plate tells a story.

From the Old Biscuit Mill to Aldwych

Founded by British-born chef Luke Dale Roberts, The Pot Luck Club has become a cornerstone of Cape Town’s food scene. Perched atop the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, it draws nightly queues for its bold menu and rooftop views. Now, Dale Roberts is bringing that same spirit to London, leading the opening alongside his Cape Town team.
“We’ve always dreamed of a London pop-up,” says Dale Roberts. “It’s a city that holds a special place in my heart. To do it at The Waldorf Hilton, with its incredible history, makes this moment even more meaningful.”
The residency will be spearheaded by Rachel Maroun, sous chef at The Pot Luck Club, who will remain in London to oversee the kitchen throughout the three-month run.
A menu of bold contrasts

As always, flavour takes the lead. Expect the same punchy, shareable plates that made The Pot Luck Club famous: think smoked beef fillet with truffle café au lait sauce, springbok tataki with mandarin gastrique, and Cape Malay-inspired vegetarian dishes. While the flavour profiles remain true to the Cape Town original, the London menu will highlight seasonal British produce, bringing local flair to global inspirations.
For those short on time, a prix fixe option will be available alongside the full à la carte and tasting menus — ideal for pre-theatre diners or guests looking to sample the highlights.
Cocktails that hold their own
Drinks are just as much a part of the experience. A bespoke cocktail menu will be served in The Wild Monkey bar, crafted by The Waldorf Hilton’s head bartender Abby Long in collaboration with the Pot Luck team. Expect house infusions, fresh ingredients and drinks designed to complement the kitchen’s bold edge. A curated bar snack menu, designed by Dale Roberts himself, will debut for the first time, rounding out the after-hours experience.
The bar will open from 4pm Monday to Wednesday, and from 12pm Thursday to Sunday, serving late into the evening.
A fresh look, familiar feel
While the menu travels well, the setting won’t be overlooked. The Homage dining room will be subtly reimagined to reflect the relaxed yet refined vibe of the Cape Town space. Service will match the tone — warm, attentive and quietly precise — making the residency feel like a seamless extension of The Pot Luck Club’s DNA.
For The Waldorf Hilton, the collaboration is a continuation of its long tradition of cultural partnerships. “We’re thrilled to welcome The Pot Luck Club to London,” says Guy Hilton, Area General Manager. “This is more than a pop-up — it’s a creative coming together of two distinct worlds, and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”
