We’ve compiled a list of a few great spots where the pizza is simply out of this world. If you’ve never been there before, then we’d suggest you give it a try. Go on… you deserve the cheesy-tomato spoils!
Established in November 2003, this family-run pizzeria combines Italian and Sardinian food into one delectable menu. Its three branches – one in Gardens, Sea Point, and the V&A Waterfront Food Market – makes Nonna Lina an easily accessible venue. We’d recommend trying the ‘Parma,’ complete with tomato, mozzarella, and prosciutto crudo.
This trendy Joburg eatery, with branches in Illovo, Braamfontein, and Randburg suits every mood, from a business lunch with a colleague to a memorable evening out with friends. We’d recommend you try the number nine pizza with prosciutto, pear, Gorgonzola and a balsamic glaze. You’ll be remiss not to order one of the cocktails, too – they complement the food beautifully.
Lupa Osteria is fully committed to offering its guests an authentic Italian experience when they visit the restaurant for dinner. The pasta is homemade and its wood-fired pizza is made with imported Italian flour. We’d recommend trying the ‘French Connection’ pizza, made with Camembert, bacon, and sun-dried tomato pesto. Yummy!
This pizza joint in the heart of Summerstrand is all about good food and good people. Everything is made by hand, including the pizza bases and pasta, and only organic produce is sourced for all additional ingredients. If you’d like to find a place where you can spoil the family with a scrumptious meal, then this is the spot! We’d recommend trying the ‘Rosemary and Olive’ pizza, served with rocket and mozzarella.

Coalition prides itself as an establishment that offers an ‘authentic Neapolitan pizza experience’. Located in the bustling hub of Rosebank, with a second branch in Sandton, this pizza spot comes highly recommended. On the menu you’ll find everything from pizzas with blue cheese and roasted garlic to slow-cooked beef ribs. The pizzas are especially appetising – we’d recommend the Siyani pizza with chorizo, chilli, and cherry tomatoes.

The Mash Tun is a hidden gem on the Sir Lowry strip in Woodstock. Here, customers will be treated to a plethora of artisanal cuisine delights. We’d recommend ordering ‘The Porky’. This cheeky pizza starts off with a generous bed of mature mozzarella, which is topped with crispy pulled pork, red onion, and wild rocket – it’s utterly sublime. Plus, the restaurant often hosts sit-down comedy shows, too!
