Britain’s monarchy has announced that it will open two previously restricted areas at two of its palaces to the public over the summer.
Buckingham Palace in London – the official address of King Charles’ residence – is one of two royal palaces that will open a previously restricted area to visitors for the duration of the northern hemisphere’s Summer.
According to an article published by IOL, Buckingham Palace invites public visitors on a tour of its East Wing – including the famous balcony where royals are often pictured during public gatherings.
Tours of the East wing will run from July through until August. R1766.00 will get you ticketed access, with entrance to the state rooms.
Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands is the second palace set to open previously restricted areas to the public throughout the Summer.

Visitors will have access to several of the rooms in the castle, which has been dubbed as the Queen Mother and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s residence of choice. Previously, only tours of the garden with limited access to the castle were available to the public.
Balmoral Castle tours will also be available from July through to August. Tickets are priced at R2, 355. If you’d like to enjoy an afternoon tea to conclude your visit at the castle, tickets come in at R3,532. Afternoon tea servings are limited to 40 in total, per day.
The tours are set to cut off in August, when the King and Queen arrive for their annual summer break at Balmoral Castle.
