Do not fear, The Wedding Expo sponsored by Old Mutual is here. What to expect
Just Teddy Boulangerie and Patisserie, new to Hyde Park Corner, will provide beautiful high teas with fresh pastries and French patisserie, and they’ve partnered with TWG Teas and Manaka Coffee, among the world’s finest tea and coffee houses. Just Teddy is built on the foundation of luxury and time-old traditions, and visitors to The Wedding Expo can book a high tea, which will be hosted in their lavish tea area. Over and above this, Just Teddy will be giving away eight high teas to lucky couples who enter the competition being run on the Food & Home website and social media platforms. Two lucky couples will each receive a fabulous high tea at The Wedding Expo, worth R500.
For something savoury, Willoughby and Co, one of Joburg’s best seafood restaurants, will be dishing up fantastic and fresh sushi, and will host the oyster and champagne bar.
So Yum, Hyde Park’s popular contemporary Asia restaurant, will have a selection of delicious dim sum and oriental food, paired with the perfect bottle of wine.
There will also be Chef’s Delight, where you can sample delicious savoury food and discover the latest foodie trends for your special day. From canapés and mains to desserts and sides, Chef’s Delight will offer inspiration and ideas for your wedding menu for various tastes.
Not to be missed is the cake-tasting station, where you can sample dozens of delectable cakes, from the traditional to the more modern flavours. Book your spot and be prepared for a delicious array of bites from top cake-makers Kelly Jayne’s Cakes, Chysil Creativ, Sugar & Ice and the Turquoise Squirrel. Some of this year’s cake trends include geometric shapes, floral arrangements on cakes, white textures, rustic colours, and gold details. “While they might change form and flavour, a wedding cake is always in style, and our aim is always to make a cake that tastes just as sensational as it looks,” says Kelly Jayne Finlayson of Jayne’s Cakes. ‘We’re excited to showcase some old favourites and new twists and creations at The Wedding Expo, and whether you’re a fan of the classic or on-trend cake, there’s something for all tastes,” adds Kelly Jayne.
Each gentleman who comes to The Wedding Expo will receive a ‘passport’, and if he follows the necessary steps, will be able to redeem a cold craft beer at The Best Bar By Far, which will be offering a great range of craft brews. The Best Bar By Far will mix wonderful cocktails, and Flowstone Gin will be served with exotic garnishes all in the sunset cocktail area with one of the city’s most beautiful views. This area will have live entertainment sponsored by Mega Music DJs as well as the 1-2-3 step dance activation, where you can learn a few moves for that memorable first dance.
