Spring is in the air and it’s time to lighten up, shed the winter blues and fall in love with Summer 2017’s shoe trends.
Whether you are hitting the streets in a casual outfit, or getting dressed up for a night out or an event, it is important to ensure that your footwear choices are always en point.
“We are finally in an era that supports different styles and comfortable footwear,” says Natasha Naidoo, the Ladies buyer for Bata South Africa. “There is a variety of trendy footwear with something for everyone, and most styles are versatile which allows for freedom of individual expression.”
Natasha lists the five trends to fall in love with this summer:
Metallic shoes are big news this summer season. Bling is in and this stylish and versatile trend is here to stay. Metallic shoes are versatile and can change an outfit making it look fancy and well put together or more casual and low-key. Your outfit should be a solid colour instead of bright patterned so that the focus of your outfit is the shoe.
Subtle prints, beading and fringe detail complements a bohemian look without going full blown hippie. A flat sandal, ballerina-style pump or pair of platform shoes are ideal for pairing with romantic, off the shoulder blouses and gypsy-styled skirts and dresses to add a touch of sophistication to this relaxed look.
Patent leather shoes are dressier by nature, include a fresh pair of patent heels to add a contemporary edge to your corporate wardrobe. Stick with classic styles and incorporate nude and bold coloured shoes as these are the colours that work best in summer.
Quilted pieces have long been a signature style amongst some of the famous fashion brands, but now they are available across all fashion staples. Quilted shoes are stylish and add texture and dimension to an outfit. Wearing quilted textures in small doses and in neutral colours takes your outfit from been good to great! These can be paired with summer dresses or jeans for smart or casual occasions.
The perfect heel for the summer! Caged heels are all about sexy and the ideal way to spice up any look. Caged heels do for the feet what the bandage dress did for the body. There are many ways to wear them, but it is best to pair these heels with a solid or simple outfit so that the focus is on the shoe.
