Tried, tested and loved: Smooch Beauty products to swoon for

What started as a lockdown skincare start-up has quickly turned into one of SA’s best-loved beauty brands.

Alisha Ramasar, the founder of local beauty brand SMOOCH BEAUTY is one powerhouse who brought her beauty business to life on her own terms.

At a glance, SMOOCH BEAUTY is gorgeous eye candy complimented by a come-up story that working moms, entrepreneurs and beauty lovers can all appreciate. Its promise is scientifically designed products that are sweet and simple to use, and easy on your purse.

I recently set out to determine whether the products are worth the hype, and the results are in!

‘What’s Poppin’

I received the vegan and cruelty-free ‘What’s Poppin’ pimple patches at a time where my skin sorely needed them. Designed to ‘speed up the life-cycle’ of a stubborn spot, after 6 hours I saw a dramatic decline in nonsense from my skin. Redness had reduced as did the size of the little beasts. 10/10 recommend for those looking for a quick fix for sneaky skin mishaps, especially if you have an event coming up.

‘Glow On’ SPF 55

Arguably the most important part of any skincare routine, SPF is like choosing a new skill to fall in love with. You’ll only see how much it’s done for you years later, but the sooner you start, the more your future self will thank you.

The Glow On SPF 55 became my companion for the last few weeks, to the point where I held it in as high regard as my house keys and emergency eyebrow gel. A nifty bottle that’s purse-ready and perfect for everyday protection.

Pro tip: use after showering in the morning and reapply every 2 hours for maximum effect.

Honeymoon Glow serum

I love a good serum like any other beauty investor. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with vitamin C-based serums, but it seems I cheated on them recently while on my ‘honeymoon’.

Boasting organic Aloe, Vitamin E and Rosa Rugosa Flower Extract ingredients, the vegan and cruelty-free serum looks like a potion from a fairytale is soft sparkly notes.

The glow is a smooth and subtle, perfect for nights out when you want to add that extra glisten to your skin.

Personal tip: use when your skin is damp for extra absorption.

The Oh-My miracle serum

As soon as I saw Botanical Hyaluronic Acid and Organic Green Tea as part of the ingredients mix, I knew I was in for a treat.

The vegan and cruelty-free Oh-My miracle serum is now officially one of my favourite hydrating products. The product creates a transparent moisturised layer over your skin, perfect for the dewy skin effect and a neat cover up for very fine lines.

Using the product over time will give you the best results. I wasn’t a mermaid in a day, but after two weeks, let me tell you …

What I love about SMOOCH BEAUTY’S brushes the most is that they’re all short-handled. No wizard wands here, so your application becomes easier to control. The hairs are fine, soft and oh-so-gentle in pearly white.
