It may surprise you to find out that a South African bathroom cabinet staple is fast becoming a favourite with stars around the globe.
Jennifer Lopez uses Vaseline, which retails for about R30 for 250mls, as eye make-up remover. Tyra Banks has also very publicly sung Vaseline’s praises.
Beyonce uses it as a moisturiser, Rachel Bilson uses it to remove eye make-up and Jennifer Aniston applies on her eyes.
“Put Vaseline on your eyes at night—all over. It helps condition your lashes,” she told Redbook.com in an interview.
Vaseline petroleum jelly is known for its moisturising properties.
While it’s quite greasy, using it in place of other harsher products can help prevent those dreaded lines and crow’s feet from sneaking onto your face.
Some sources even say that applying a little Vaseline over your favourite eye serum can double the strength of the top layer’s ingredients.
Here are a few more uses for Vaseline that you might not know about:
– Use it to add a bit of shine to your matte lipstick
– Prevent manicure mistakes – apply Vaseline to the skin around your nails before you paint for perfect results every time
– When using a box hair dye, rub Vaseline onto your forehead and on your eyes to prevent the dye running
– Try dabbing some Vaseline on your wrists and neck before spraying on perfume – it prevents the molecules from evaporating
