When it’s icy cold and pouring with rain, most of us think twice about braving the outdoors. But what to do when you’re in need of a catch-up sesh with the girls? Here are a few ideas that will allow you to embrace the season and enjoy your time together.
Cooking or baking
Winter is perfect for cooking a warming, hearty meal, and what better way to enjoy it than with your girls. So plan a fun afternoon or evening where you cook or bake together. You could make all your faves or try something totally different. Another option is to attend a cooking class where you can learn a new cuisine or recipe together.
Board games
A toasty fire, glass of wine or steaming mug of hot chocolate in hand and a game of 30 Seconds will guarantee you a cosy, fun … and competitive evening.
Movies
If the 30 Seconds competition is causing things to heat up too much due that one overly competitive friend, why not rather curl up with fluffy blankets and a few good movies or a series that you’ve all been wanting to see. And don’t forget the mandatory yummy snacks.
Spa treatments
Always a winner, a spa day is the ultimate indulgence. Massages, facials, lunch, beautiful setting…the full package. But if you’d prefer the comfort and warmth of home, create a spa-like atmosphere at one of your girls’ places with DIY facials and mani-pedis. Add a special touch by playing relaxing music and lighting scented candles. Make it a day to truly remember by getting everyone a personalised robe, which will not only keep them warm and snug but also make for a nice keepsake.
High tea
A sophisticated high tea experience gives everyone a nudge to dress up and shake off that winter slump of living in thick leggings and comfy hoodies. A comforting cup of tea paired with an array of sweet and savoury treats enjoyed with the girls makes for a lovely afternoon sheltered from the chill outside.

Museums, art galleries & theatres
Keep out of the cold and explore your city’s arts and culture scene by visiting a museum or art gallery, or watch a theatre show. It’s a great way to spend a few hours and you can grab a meal or hot cuppa afterwards.
Creative activities
With more time being spent indoors because of the weather, it is the perfect opportunity to get crafty and start those DIY projects you’ve had your eye on. Get the girls involved and make some jewellery or try your hand at scrapbooking – you can finally get your memories from your last girls’ trip down on paper. But if you’re more keen on a guided step-by-step experience without the worry of any set-up or clean up, you could attend a sip and paint evening and go home with a piece of art you’ve created.
