Bluey’s Big Play brings the beloved pup to life
For the first time ever, Cape Town families can enjoy Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show live at the Artscape Theatre. Running from 26 June to 6 July, this heartwarming production brings the Emmy-winning animated series to life with puppetry, live actors and a charming storyline that follows Bluey, Bingo and their dad through a day packed with fun and games. With a mix of laughter, cleverness and family bonding, it’s the perfect winter holiday outing for little ones and their parents alike.

The magic of circus returns with Chasing Dreams
Zip Zap Circus is back with a brand-new production, Chasing Dreams, showing on 12, 13, 19 and 20 July at the Zip Zap Dome in Cape Town. With performances at 11am and 3pm, this breathtaking display of acrobatics, storytelling and heart features performers at every stage of their circus journey, from young hopefuls to seasoned professionals.
Tickets are R150, and children under three attend free. It’s a wonderful way to inspire young dreamers and enjoy an unforgettable experience during the school holidays.
Global MMA comes to the Mother City
Cape Town will host Africa’s first global MMA event on Saturday, 19 July, as the Professional Fighters League (PFL) kicks off its inaugural African showcase at the Grand Arena, GrandWest. This is more than just a fight night — it marks the launch of PFL Africa, a new regional league designed to spotlight the continent’s emerging talent.
Expect fierce competition as the 2025 tournament opens with heavyweights and bantamweights battling it out in an eight-man bracket. Tickets are R400 and available online. Doors open at 4:30pm, with the event running until 11pm.
Johannesburg: musical theatre at its finest
Jonathan Roxmouth’s My Favourite Broadway at Montecasino
Theatre lovers in Joburg are in for a treat as Jonathan Roxmouth returns from a successful international tour with My Favourite Broadway. Running over two weekends — 25 to 27 July and 1 to 3 August — the show will light up Montecasino’s Teatro with Broadway hits performed by one of South Africa’s most celebrated stars.
Expect classics from the world’s biggest musicals, delivered with Roxmouth’s signature flair and vocal power. Shows run on Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets range from R240 to R490 and are available at Webtickets. Early bird specials and group discounts are available, so don’t delay.
