If your skin is feeling a little dry and your mind could use a moment of calm, why not treat yourself to a homemade exfoliating lavender sugar scrub? This delightfully simple recipe combines natural ingredients to gently buff away dead skin cells, leaving you soft, smooth, and subtly scented.
Even better, it’s made with ingredients you may already have in your kitchen or bathroom cupboard. Lavender essential oil not only gives this scrub a gorgeous floral fragrance, but it’s also known for its calming properties—ideal for a bit of end-of-day self-care or a Sunday night ritual.
What you’ll need:
- 200g white granulated sugar
- 120ml coconut oil (solid or melted, depending on your preference)
- 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil
- 10–15 drops lavender essential oil
- Optional: 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds (for a little extra texture and visual appeal)
How to make it
1. Mix the oils
In a small bowl or jug, combine the coconut oil and grapeseed or almond oil. If your coconut oil is solid, gently warm it until just melted. Stir in the lavender essential oil.
2. Add sugar
Place the sugar into a clean mixing bowl. Pour the oil mixture over the sugar and stir thoroughly until well combined. If you’re using dried lavender, stir it in now.
3. Jar it up
Spoon your scrub into a clean, dry jar with a tight-fitting lid. Label and date it—this scrub will stay fresh for up to six months when stored in a cool, dry place.
How to use
In the shower or bath, take a small handful of scrub and gently massage it into damp skin using circular motions. Focus on dry areas like elbows, knees, and heels. Rinse off with warm water and pat skin dry. For best results, follow up with your favourite body lotion or natural oil.
Tip: Feel free to personalise your scrub by swapping lavender oil for another essential oil you love—sweet orange, lemon, or peppermint all make refreshing alternatives.
This scrub is a lovely way to bring a bit of spa-like indulgence into your everyday routine. It’s quick to make, completely customisable, and leaves you glowing—inside and out.
